Party Planning for the Holidays

Get your holiday planning gears in motion and start to prepare for Christmas and Hanukkah. Organize everything from your invitations to your decorations, menu to favors. Holidays planning should start early in order to throw a holiday cocktail party, dinner party, a formal get-together, or a casual get-together.
Plan for the holidays with these helpful ideas:
  • Invitations: Make a guest list to help plan your holidays and the holiday party. Create the guest list based on the residence or venue, the number of people who will fit, and the budget. Finalize the details, and then free Christmas invitations and free Hanukkah invitations. Make sure to include important information for your holidays plan such as the name of the event, name of the host or hostess, date, time and location.
  • Decorations: Pull your holiday decorations out of the basement, attic or garage, or start fresh and make some new decoration purchases this holiday season. Decorate with items such as mini Christmas trees, wreathes, candles and sleighs for Christmas. Focus on the colors green and red. For Hanukkah, search for a menorah, the Star of David and dreidels. Use the colors silver, white and blue.
  • Menu: Create your menu based on the type of holiday party and time of day. For a cocktail party, serve drinks, light appetizers and finger foods. For formal parties held around a specific meal time (lunch or dinner), plan for a menu with more extensive items such as appetizers, the main course, and dessert.
  • Favors: Plan for the holidays in advance, and keep your eyes open for clever holiday favors. Consider mugs with hot cocoa mix and marshmallows, candy in small cellophane bags, homemade cookies with festive decorations or even a book full of holiday recipes.
After the holidays, gather all of the leftovers and make a feast. Invite over family and friends to enjoy a great meal and share pictures from the holidays to reminisce about all of the fun and excitement.
