Homemade Applesauce Recipe

Ingredients:
8 apples (include various kinds to give your applesauce a much deeper flavor)
 1 1⁄2 cups of water

Directions:

Peel, core and slice the apples into eighths. Cook the apples in a large covered pot or Dutch oven on medium heat for about 20 minutes or until soft. Use a potato masher or a food mill to make the applesauce smooth. For a nice pink tint, keep a few of the peels on your red apples while they cook. Follow the advice of diehard applesauce makers and cook the apples whole to get the most flavor, then core, slice and mash the apples.

Add extra ingredients and make your applesauce especially delicious. Some flavoring options include butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, orange or lemon zest, blueberries, strawberries, raisins or cranberries. Keep it simple or make your apple sauce a little daring and pair some different flavor options.

Serve your recipe for homemade applesauce to accompany any part of the Thanksgiving feast. Enjoy the sweet flavor, and complement either the main course or pies, tarts and other sweet treats with homemade applesauce recipes.
